Happy New Year and welcome back to the Star Wars HoloNet Digest, a weekly feature where I bring you a recap of the latest news from the world of Star Wars. Whether it’s a movie announcement or a noteworthy author interview, you’ll find it here. Let’s check the HoloNet and see what happened in the past two weeks. Star Wars Rebels is going strong after airing its tenth episode of Season One, and already, we’re looking ahead to the future. In terms of the immediate future, you can see a preview of the next episode, “Call to Action,” featuring everyone’s favorite Grand Moff and a very risky mission for our heroes. Stephen Stanton’s voice work as Tarkin is just exquisite; it’s the perfect way to further ground the series in the inter-trilogy pre-A New Hope time period. You won’t want to miss this episode. If you’re a fan of the pirate leader Hondo Ohnaka, you’ll be happy to know that Hondo will be appearing in Rebels. We don’t know much more than that right now. The news comes from Salt Lake Comic Con’s FanXperience, where Hondo voice actor Jim Cummings confirmed his character’s return during a recording of the Full of Sith podcast. I love me some Hondo and I can’t wait to see how he’s involved in intergalactic rebel shenanigans. We’re just a few short months away from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, April 16-19, in Anaheim, California. While we don’t have a full schedule yet, Del Rey confirmed the presence of three Star Wars authors—John Jackson Miller, Christie Golden, and James Luceno—as part of their literature programming and Lucasfilm has announced the Tattoo Pavilion and several speed-dating sessions. Speaking of literature news, how about a new short story? Del Rey’s Star Wars team announced on Facebook that Jason Fry has written a short story about a squadron of TIE pilots that will appear in Star Wars Insider #156 (March 2015). Details about the story are as elusive as the schematics for the Death Star, but Fry did add on Twitter that “there is singing.” Color us curious! Lastly, if you’re a fan of Star Wars comics, don’t forget to pick up Star Wars #2 by Jason Aaron and John Cassaday, which is released today. What has Luke Skywalker gotten himself into on Cymoon 1? Find out as Marvel’s first Star Wars story continues. Now, here’s your Star Wars palette-cleanser, Impressive-Most-Impressive Edition. The teaser trailer for #StarWars: The Force Awakens has been viewed more than 123 million times, Disney's Bob Iger says.
