Welcome back to the Star Wars HoloNet Digest, a weekly feature where I bring you a recap of the latest news from the world of Star Wars. Whether it’s a movie announcement or a noteworthy author interview, you’ll find it here. Let’s check the HoloNet and see what happened in the last two weeks. Yesterday, Del Rey published Star Wars: Tarkin by James Luceno, a fascinating look at one of the most interesting and underappreciated characters from the original trilogy. You can read my lengthy interview with Luceno right here. He also spoke to my ForceCast co-host Justin Bolger for his podcast Star Wars With Friends. Reviews are available from TheForce.Net, Making Star Wars, Jedi News, Den of Geek, Lightsaber Rattling, Tosche Station, and The Wookiee Gunner. Luceno himself wrote a short blog post for StarWars.com about his first impression of Tarkin back in 1977. Principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII has wrapped, and the Saturday night wrap party looks like it was a lot of fun. John Boyega chronicled the event with several videos and photos. Hit those links to Daisy Ridley and him dancing to songs such as “Turn Down for What?” It looks like he also hung out with eternal Star Wars superstar R2-D2. Here’s something in rumor territory that is looking more real every day: a soundtrack for The Clone Wars. First, a listing for the Season 1 soundtrack appeared on Best Buy’s website, and now there’s an Amazon listing for a complete series soundtrack with 28 tracks and almost an hour of music. Kevin Kiner’s work on The Clone Wars was one of the best elements of the series, exceeding fans’ expectations for non-John Williams Star Wars music and setting the perfect tone in some of the series’ most crucial moments. I’m really glad to see that his work is getting the standalone release that it deserves—and that fans have been calling for since the first season. The next episode of Star Wars Rebels, “Out of Darkness,” is just five days away. (You can already watch it online if you have a cable subscription that includes Disney XD.) The episode stars Hera and Sabine and showcases their kick-butt teamwork in the face of danger when they discover that they are not alone in an abandoned hangar. You can preview “Out of Darkness” right here.
